Our next monthly meeting will be held next week at the Cattletown Steakhouse & Saloon, 3141 E Drexel Rd. and will encompass three activities.

First:

Our board of directors meeting, normally scheduled for the third Wednesday of the month, was cancelled.  The BOD will hold a short meeting beginning half an hour prior to the regular meeting at Cattletown restaurant from 5:30 until 6:00 PM.

Meet and greet:

Our time for the regular meet, greet and dine will be a little longer, I am estimating this to be from 6:00 to ~6:45. The reason for this is that our vice president, Jeff Seligman, just informed me of his leaving active employment at Raytheon and wished to invite several of his Raytheon co-workers to experience the Catalina Radio Club for two reasons. First is to share a single going away party with both co-workers and members of the club. The second is to expose CRC to more Raytheon active employees to the club for possible recruitment into our club.

Regular monthly meeting:

Our regular monthly agenda will include the following topics (short version of previously agenda emailed by the club secretary)

1. Field Day: last minute catch-up

2. HERO assessment by RTX Spectrum Manager

3. EMCOMM Raytheon-Wide Over-The-Air-Event.

4. Retiree badges:  Patrick W. has graciously emailed Fred (previous point of contact) and James to request a point of contact for retiree badges. He also offered to discuss bolstering current company EMCOMM exercises in collaboration with other sites. I'm not doing his email justice, TBH. Best if Patrick clarifies and informs us of possible traction in that area next week.

Adjournment:   The official meeting will close promptly no later than 8:00 PM.   The room will be available for social discourse as permitted by the restaurant.

President, Catalina Radio Club

The club maintains a radio station and emergency communications center in Building 811R.  The 811R "Ham Shack" is the small modular building located between the two antenna towers.  We recently hosted an open house intended for all Raytheon employees to see the capabilities of our club.  If Raytheon employees would like to schedule a future tour, please send us an email at W7SA-bod@googlegroups.com.

W7SA now has new repeaters on 2m and 70 cm, which are now online and functioning well. They are an open repeaters, so any licensed ham radio operator is welcomed to give it a try.  Any QRM reports related to our repeater should be send to W7SA-bod@googlegroups.com.

All Raytheon employees are welcome to join and participate in CRC activities. For further information, email to CRC Board of Directors, w7sa-bod@googlegroups.com

At this time, local Amateur Licensing exams and classes are offered by the Radio Society of Tucson club (K7RST), OVARC testing, and online (ARRL.ORG and others). The CRC does not currently provide license training, but with your help, we hope to change that in 2025.
